07/04/20 - Elizabeth, NJ - Firefighters were kept busy in Elizabeth fourth of July night with multiple fires including this large garage fire. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke showing from this eight bay garage turned storage facility by local tenants. The fire is believed to have started by fireworks landing on the roof and burning into the structure. It was loaded with contents, including autos, appliances, etc., causing Collyers Manison conditons for firefighters. Firefighters had to removed these contents to gain access to the interior and knock down the fire. A second alarm was transmitted for this manpower intensive fire. The fire took about an hour to bring under control.
