04/28/19 New Haven, CT- Multiple calls were received for the rear porch of a dwelling on fire in the Heights section of the city. Engine 17 arrived reporting heavy smoke from the rear of a two and a half story, private dwelling. Members were faced with a rapidly advancing fire in an enclosed rear stairwell. The fire extended into all three floors, prompting a second alarm to be transmitted. Multiple lines were stretched and trucks coordinated top side ventilation to bring the fire under control. All occupants were able to self evacuate prior to the arrival of the fire department. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
