05/28/21 New Haven, CT - The Emergency Unit, while responding to a medical, gave a verbal for fire in the area of Chapel St. near East St. The box was transmitted followed by additional sources reporting the scrap yard on fire. Companies arrived to find a large scrap pile, two stories tall with heavy fire showing. Multiple hand lines were stretched and Truck Three's ladder pipe was put into operation to control the fire. Companies were aided by the crane operator who pulled apart the pile for final extinguishment. The fire took about an hour to bring under control in heavy rain conditions.
