12/21/22: Just after 12:30 AM, the New Haven Fire Department began receiving multiple calls for a house fire in the 200 block of Howard Avenue. While companies were enroute, the address was updated to 217 Howard Avenue. Engine 11 arrived on scene and transmitted a working fire (Signal 73) for heavy fire on the first floor of a 2.5 wood. Companies made a quick knock of the exterior fire on the first floor before pushing in to the house. Two occupants were also removed by firefighters and treated by EMS. Firefighters then had to overcome fire conditions in the attic. This fire was elevated to a second alarm due to the volume of fire. The fire is currently under investigation.
