Mastic Beach - Car FIre - William Floyd Pkwy 2/25/22
Shirley N.Y.- On Saturday February 25th at about 5:09 PM the Mastic Beach Fire Department was activated for a report of a vehicle fire on William Floyd parkway near Palmetto Dr. Assistant Chiefs Jeff McGown {5-13-31} and Luis Grego {5-13-32}. On arrival the chiefs found an involved auto and requested that county reactivate the department. Unit 5-13-8 was requested to respond in first due. On arrival the crew stretched out a line. They were joined by Engine 5-13-3 who’s crew stretched a booster line as well as multiple fire police units.
Fire crews went to work putting water on the fire Mastic Beach FD Fire Police assisted SCPD 7th Pct units with shutting down the Southbound lanes of William Floyd at Havenwood Dr all the way down past the scene. Crews were able to quickly knock down the fire. They were however on scene cleaning up the scene for an extended period. William Floyd Parkway was closed in the area for an extended period of time. No injuries were reported.
