Tech Rescue - Medea Way, Central Islip, NY - 01/02/21
Central Islip NY – At about 1:10 PM January 2nd Central Islip FD and Central Islip Hauppague Volunteer ambulance were activated for a report of a person falling down the storm drain on Medea Way. On arrival The Chief of Central Islip FD advised he had a confirmed elderly male down the storm drain approx. 10 feet. He needed his Rescue 16 to continue in as well as the Tech Rescue team from Hauppague to assist.
Suffolk Fire Rescue Coordinator 3-0-2 also responded to the scene as did Suffolk Police Emergency Services units. Members confirmed that the patient was conscious and made patient contact and once the resources were on scene, they quickly went to work to remove the patient quickly and safely. The Male was removed from the storm drain and taken by CI-Hauppague Volunteer ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Firefighters covered the drain with ply-wood and turned over the scene to Suffolk Police for investigation.
