Mastic MVA with Entrapment Sunrise Hwy {2023.02.26}
Mastic N.Y.- On Sunday February 26, 2023 at about 10:30 AM Suffolk County Police and Mastic Fire and Ambulance companies responded to a report of a Motor Vehicle Crash with entrapment and 1 person unconscious on the Eastbound Sunrise Highway just east of Exit 58 ( William Floyd Pkwy) . On arrival Chief of Department Gene Martucci ( 5-12-30) Confirmed that 1 person was trapped in the vehicle that was wedged between the trees off the shoulder off the highway.
Rescue 5-12-10 was requested to come into the scene and pull up and the crew to bring the Hurst tools up. Firefighters went to work quickly to get the passenger side door open to gain access to the patient. Once firefighters were able to gain access members from Mastic ambulance along with a crew from Stony Brook Hospital Medic 65 went to work assessing the patient and loading her into the ambulance.
Chief Martucci was advised by Suffolk Police that they would not be required to do any further clean up as the police were deeming it SPI (serious personal injuries) and holding the scene as a crime scene at that time. The patient was taken to a local hospital by Stony Brook Hospital Medic 65. Mastic FD Fire Police and Suffolk Police were on scene directing traffic. All Fire Units were back in service in about 45 Mins and the scene was turned over to Suffolk County Police.
