Prior to box being struck, tower 1 reported a plume visible. Box 349 initially struck for a building on Ames st, but after the address was confirmed the box was changed to 36. Companies arrived to heavy fire from the rear porch on arrival which extended into the cockloft. 2 extra trucks were special called over the 2nd alarm, and eventually a 3rd alarm was ordered.
