Fire destroys the vacant Wykeham Rise Girls Boarding School in Washington,CT. The site was famous in later years when the Rolling Stones leased the property to prepare for their Steel Wheels Tour in 1989. It has since been purchased to develop a high end resort condominium community. The main building which was a total loss brought 10+ towns and 2 tanker strike teams to help battle the huge wood frame structure.
