Working Fire - 90 Mount Pleasant St , Athol, MA - 10/14/18
An mid morning fire ripped through an old Athol home that had been converted into several apartments.
I missed the initial call, but was notified via the Zello app by a fellow CFPA member putting out the call for a working fire! I rushed out the door and made the 20 min drive out, but unfortunately missed any good fire.
First due engine 3 arrived to find heavy fire blowing out the division 1 "D" side window and heavy smoke in coming from everywhere else. They stretched two handlines and made an aggressive interior attack stopping the fire from spreading to the whole building. One resident was transported from the scene for unknown reasons and several animals including a pot-belly pig were rescued.
Extensive overhaul was needed and several hotspots were found and extinguished. All town and mutual aid companies had cleared the scene around noon.
