A single phone call to a regional dispatch center then transferred to Lawrence alerted Police and Fire of a building fire on Kendall St on Thursday night March 2nd 2017. Engine 6 arrived and a working fire was ordered by Captain Zahn. Heavy fire on the 2nd floor B/C corner was extending rapidly up this 3-3.5 story occupied dwelling. Firefighters made a very aggressive attack on the fire and were able to knock it down before it broke thru the roof. Several homes in close proximity were also saved. The fire went to 3 alarms with mutual aid assistance from several area communities.
