Lawrence firefighters battled a 3 alarm fire on Christmas Eve in a large 2.5 story occupied dwelling on Saunders St. Companies arrived to find heavy smoke showing from the eaves before the fire broke out the roof of on the "D" side and eventually burning thuout the entire 3rd floor and roof. After an attempted interior attack, crews were ordered ouit of the building to fight the fire defensively for the duration.
