7 Alarm Structure Fire - Bennington & Saratoga Sts, Lawrence, MA - 6/11/17
Lawrence firefighters, with help from extensive amounts of mutual aid, worked a fast moving 7 alarm fire in Lawrence's Arlington District.
The fire appeared to start in the rear of 118 Bennington St where it quickly grew in size and extended to multiple structures on both Bennington and Saratoga Street's. A lack of good water supply and some higher wind conditions allowed the fire to grow rapidly. Additional alarms were transmitted in order to establish an adequate water supply as well as to combat firefighter fatigue as temperatures were into the 90's with high humidity. In all, 2 triple decker's and a 2.5 story wood frame were completely destroyed along with at least 5 other nearby structures with damage of varying degrees including fire, smoke, water and/or heat.
A full gallery of photos wont be available for a few days, so heres a sample. But keep checking back as the photos, when ready will be posted on this page of my website at http://www.kdwfirephotos.com/LawrenceFireDepartment/2017-Fires-and-Incidents
