Firefighters and Firefighter Profiles
Read MoreWhen members of Haddam Volunteer Fire Company learned that 5-year-old Seth Lane was suffering from a genetic condition called Severe Combined Immunodeficiency, or “Bubble Boy” disease, they wanted to show the U.K. resident that he had support here in Haddam, Conn. To encourage Seth to keep fighting, his parents have asked people around the world to wear yellow to support him on March 27, 2015 when he will undergo a bone marrow transplant. People can post photos online via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and they will print out the pictures and hang them in Seth's hospital room. Seth, who loves the children’s television shows Fireman Sam, PAW Patrol and the color yellow, is receiving the support from more than 40 Haddam firefighters and Junior members who donned their yellow-striped turnout gear, in front of yellow fire trucks, holding signs of encouragement. Seth also is receiving photos of Fireman (Chief) Sam Baber and Booster, the HVFCo. mascot, who resembles the character “Marshall” on PAW Patrol. (Photo by Olivia Drake)
On Dec. 12, 2015, the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company’s Junior Division hosted a “Fill the Boot” drive in front of the Higganum Village Market. All proceeds will benefit Haddam Killingworth High School’s 27th annual Holiday Show Telethon which is raising funds and awareness for the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF.org).
