Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to a vehicle fire just after 5 p.m. Aug. 6, 2015 on Route 9S near Exit 8. The driver noticed smoke in her car and quickly pulled to the shoulder and exited the vehicle. Upon arrival, Haddam firefighters found the vehicle completely engulfed in flames. They used a 1 3/4" hose off Haddam’s Engine 1-13 to extinguish the fire. Traffic was shut down on Route 9 for about 20 minutes. (Photo by Olivia Drake)
Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to a vehicle fire just after 5 p.m. Aug. 6, 2015 on Route 9S near Exit 8. The driver noticed smoke in her car and quickly pulled to the shoulder and exited the vehicle. Upon arrival, Haddam firefighters found the vehicle completely engulfed in flames. Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to two motor vehicle accidents Aug. 22, 2015 on Route 9. The first occurred at 2:15 p.m. on Route 9S on the Nedobity Road overpass/bridge abutment. The driver was transported via Haddam Volunteer Ambulance Service to Middlesex Hospital with minor injuries. The second accident (pictured) occurred at 5:20 p.m. on Route 9N near Exit 9. A driver struck a guardrail on the right side of the road, lost control of his vehicle and crossed all three lanes, then struck a guardrail on the left side of the road. The driver was evaluated by medical personnel on scene and refused treatment. Both accidents are under investigation by the Connecticut State Police. (Photo by Olivia Drake)
Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to a motor vehicle accident at 5:40 p.m. Oct. 9, 2015 on the Exit 9 north-bound on ramp from Killingworth Road. In rainy, wet road conditions, a driver lost control of her vehicle, struck a guard rail and went over the embankment. The driver was transported to Middlesex Hospital via Haddam Volunteer Ambulance Service with minor injuries. In addition to closing the ramp to traffic, Haddam firefighters assisted the tow truck service with removing the vehicle from the steep embankment. (Photo by Olivia Drake)

A driver, heading southbound on Killingworth Road in Haddam lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree. Firefighters and EMTs removed the driver from his vehicle and transported him to Hartford Hospital via Haddam Volunteer Ambulance Service. A driver lost control of her vehicle and drove over the embankment, flipping the vehicle onto the driver’s side. The driver was able to crawl out of the vehicle and was transported to Middlesex Hospital via Haddam Volunteer Ambulance with minor injuries. Firefighters shut down traffic on Killingworth Road for about two hours. The driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree.
