Shortly after 9 p.m. Jan. 25, Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to a motor vehicle accident on Bridge Road in Tylerville. A driver heading eastbound towards East Haddam lost control of her vehicle and swerved into the westbound lane. A driver heading westbound witnessed the vehicle swerving, so he pulled to the side of the road and braced for impact. His vehicle was struck head-on. Following the collision, a passerby stopped and helped the female driver exit her vehicle. The driver was taken to Middlesex Hospital via Haddam Volunteer Ambulance with injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was evaluated on scene and refused medical treatment. Haddam Fire rerouted traffic through Camp Bethel Road for about an hour. At 2:30 p.m. July 9, 2016, firefighters assisted an injured woman who had fallen off her tricycle near the intersection of Saybrook Road and Jail Hill Road. The woman, who was making a right turn into her driveway, hit a curb and fell onto the pavement. She was taken to Middlesex Hospital via Chester Ambulance with minor injuries. (Photo by Olivia Drake)
Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to a motor vehicle accident at 5:25 p.m. July 1, 2016 on Route 9 North near Exit 9. The driver of the vehicle abruptly braked, lost control of her vehicle, and struck a wire guard rail. The vehicle flipped three times and landed on the wheels. Both the driver and the passenger were wearing seat belts. They were evaluated on scene and refused further medical treatment. Both lanes of traffic were routed to the shoulder for about 45 minutes.
