Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to a motor vehicle accident at 6:40 a.m. Aug. 15 in the Tylerville section of Haddam. A driver traveling northbound on Saybrook Road attempted to make a left turn into Mike's Auto Service when she struck an SUV headed southbound. The driver subsequently struck a stone wall, causing her vehicle to flip onto the driver's side. Haddam firefighters accessed and helped remove the driver through the back of the vehicle. She was evaluated on scene and was transported to Middlesex Hospital via Haddam Volunteer Ambulance for further evaluation. The driver of the SUV refused medical treatment. (Photo by Olivia Drake)
Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to a motor vehicle accident at 6:35 p.m. Oct. 13, 2016 on Killingworth Road in Higganum. A single driver lost control of his vehicle, veered off the north-bound side of the road, struck a tree and flipped his vehicle onto its roof. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the driver was trapped inside and was trying to self-extricate. Firefighters broke the rear door’s glass to gain access to the patient. The driver was taken to Middlesex Hospital via Haddam Volunteer Ambulance. The vehicle was leaking oil and firefighters applied absorbent pads to the area. The north-bound side of Killingworth Road was shut down at the intersection of Little City Road for about 45 minutes while crews worked to remove the vehicle. The cause of the accident is under investigation by Connecticut State Police. (Photo by Olivia Drake)
