2nd Alarm - 12 Silver Brook Rd Westport, CT - 12/10/2021
Around 5:20 pm on Friday, December 10, 2021, the Westport ECC received a residential fire alarm activation in the 1 block of Silver Brook Rd. Engines 6 and 2 were dispatched to the scene. While en route, there was a report of smoke in the house and a possible furnace issue. Engines 4, 5, Rescue 3, Car 3, and Wilton Truck 5 were added to the assignment. Engine 6 arrived to initially nothing showing, smoke was soon noticed to be coming from the chimney by the crew and a line was stretched as Engine 2 arrived and reported smoke showing to Westport. Crews had a difficult time trying to find the fire, which had embedded itself in the basement ceiling and was running the length of the house. Norwalk Engine 4 was requested to the scene and the call was upgraded to a 2nd Alarm. Crews had the fire under control in a bit over an hour. Westport Cars 1, 2, 5, FP-1, FP-2, and FP-3 also responded to this incident. There were no injuries. The Red Cross is assisting the occupants. The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of this fire.
