2 Alarm+ Dwelling Fire - 20 Bloomfield Drive, Fairfield, CT - 11/18/20
Around 9:30 last night, a neighbor called in to the ECC reporting smoke in a residence at 20 Bloomfield Drive. The initial assignment was Engine 3, Engine 5, Engine 1, Engine 4, Rescue 1, and Ladder 2. Car 3 and Engine 2 cleared up from an AFA they were at and responded as well, placing Engine 4 back into service. On arrival, companies encountered a light to moderate smoke condition in the residence. Heading downstairs to investigate, companies found the source of the smoke being an electrical panel. The IC placed a recall holding the first 3 engines and first truck company on scene. This was quickly recinded when the wall around the panel was opened up. Active fire was found inside the wall. Engine 4 was redirected from coverage to the scene. The fire then worked its way throughout the walls and floors of the large 2 1/2 story wood frame house. Bridgeport Engine 3, Engine 7, Ladder 11, and Battalion 1 were brought in direct to the scene, bringing the assignment to the equivalent of a 2nd Alarm. Bridgeport Car 3 responded as well with Fairfield FM-1 and Fairfield Cars 1, 2 and 5. Companies chased deep-seated fire throughout the house. An incident occurred involving a firefighter on the second floor who was escorted out and evaluated by AMR. Upon searching the attic space, Rescue 1 encountered heavy fire in the attic and requested a line up to them. Fairfield Ladder 2 and Bridgeport Ladder 11 threw ladders to windows and made their way up to the roof for ventilation. Westport Engine 2 was re-directed from coverage to the scene. Westport Cars 2 and 3 responded to the scene as well. The fire was brought under control around 11pm. The Fairfield Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
