Around 12:10pm on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, the Hamden Fire Department was dispatched for a reported appliance fire in the 1 block of Savoy Street. Engine 3 arrived on scene to heavy fire showing from a 2-1/2 story low-rise apartment complex. A 2nd Alarm was quickly issued bringing North Haven to the scene. Crews worked for a bit over an hour to contain the fire. Luckily the fire was contained to a single unit; stopped by the complex's firewalls and was stopped before it could travel across the attic and roof. There are no injuries to report. Red Cross is assisting the occupants. The fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of this fire.
