On Saturday, July 1, 2023, around 7:50 am, the Fairfield County Regional Dispatch Center recieved a report of a roof on fire in the unit block of Birch Rd. Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 4, Ladder 2, Rescue 1, and Car 3 were dispatched to the scene. AMR 718 arrived first on scene and confirmed fire coming from the roof. AC Sherwood asked for the 5th engine to be added to the assignement. Companies arrived to smoke and fire showing from the roof of a large 2-1/2 story private dwelling. Car 3, under the command of Assistant Chief Schuyler Sherwood soon asked for Bridgeport and Westport's cover companies to respond to the scene, bringing the scene to the equivalent of a 2nd alarm. Companies battled fire on the roof and in the attic space of the dwelling for approximately an hour before the fire was brought under control. FM-1 and Car 2 also responded to the scene. One firefighter was evaluated by AMR post-fire for unknown injuries, there were no other known injuries. The Fairfield Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of this fire.
