Aircraft Incident - Seaside Park Bridgeport, CT - 3/2/2022
Around 4:50pm on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, the Bridgeport ECC recieved a call from the Sikorsky Airport (KBDR) control tower reporting that they had lost contact with an aircraft in the area of Seaside Park and believed it to be down, possibly on the beach. This Charlie-1/2 assignment consisted of Engine 3, Engine 1, Engine 4, Engine 7, Ladder 5, Ladder 11, Rescue 5, Safety Officer 1, and Battalion 1. Units were updated enroute that another aircraft had spotted the downed aircraft near the west beach in Seaside Park possibly in the water. With this information, Battalion 1 requested Engine 3 to launch Fireboat 233 and Engine 6 to launch Zodiac 6. After searching through the park, Engine 4 soon located a Cessna 182 in the grass at the end of Seaside Park on its wheels. Engine 4 made contact with the pilot who reported no injuries. Finding the aircraft safe with no obvious hazards, recall was issued holding Engine 4, Ladder 5, Rescue 5, and Battalion 1. All units soon returned back to service. This incident is under investigation by the FAA and NTSB.
