Car Fire - 140 Melville Dr. Fairfield, CT - 9/28/2020
About 6:40pm yesterday, a call came into the Fairfield ECC of flames coming from underneath a car. The initial response was Engine 3, Ladder 2, and Car 3. Enroute, Car 3 added Engine 1 to the assignment for water supply as the nearest hydrant was over on Greenlawn Drive, Engine 3 would be coming in from the opposite side and wouldn't be able to catch it on the way in. On arrival, Engine 3 found heavy fire from underneath the car and the engine compartment. Companies attempted to use water for about 8 minutes before switching to foam, which quickly took care of the fire. Engine 2 responded to the scene after clearing from a medical call to assist with hazard mitigation in checking storm drains and manholes for fuel and foam runoff. All visible smoke was gone by 7:30, an hour since the time of alarm. In the end, a 2012 Porsche Boxster was totalled.
