Dive recovery - Lake Hills Beach 1 Fairfield, CT - 9/12/2021
At 8:41 am on Sunday, September 12, 2021, Fairfield Fire and Police were alerted to a report of a person disappearing under the water at Lake Hills Beach 1 and had not resurfaced. Fairfield Fire responded with Engine 2, Engine 4, Ladder 2, Rescue 1, and Car 3. Upon confirming there was a person underwater, both the Fairfield Fire and Fairfield Police dive teams were activated. Engine 1 was added with Car 9 to respond upon the activation. Fairfield Police had a diver in the water within 20 minutes of the time of call. For the next 3 hours, divers searched the waters of Lake Hills as additional resources responded to the scene with divers, including the Bridgeport and Trumbull Police Dive Teams, as well as Fairfield Police's jetski, and Stratfield Vol. Fire's Rescue 15 for air supply. At about noon, the victim was removed from the lake. All resources were packed up and returned to service soon after.
