House fire - 577 Kings Highway E Fairfield, CT - 5/3/2022
On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, around 5:05 am, the Fairfield County Regional Dispatch Center received a call reporting smoke and fire from a house in the 500 block of Kings Highway East. Fairfield dispatched Engines 2, 1, 3, and 4, Ladder 2, Rescue 1, and Car 3 to the scene. Car 3 arrived first on scene and reported fire showing from the 1st floor with smoke showing on all sides of a 2-1/2 story wood frame private dwelling. Car 3 declared a working fire and added the 5th engine, bringing Engine 5 to the scene. A callback fire was declared soon after. Car 3's Aide utilized a water can and suppressed most of the exterior fire while Engine 2 arrived and stretched a line inside to the fire. The fire was contained to the front room on the 1st floor of the home and was quickly knocked down. Search companies located a victim and brought them out to AMR where they were transported to the hospital in serious condition. The fire was under control about half an hour from the time of alarm. Cars 1, 2, and 5, as well as FM-1 and FM-2 also responded to this incident. There were no other injuries to report. The Fairfield Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of this fire with assistance from the CT State Police Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit.
