Prescribed Burn - Great Meadows Marsh, Stewart B. McKinney NWR, Stratford, CT - 3/30/2021
On March 30th 2021 the US Fish and Wildlife Service made the first in a series of prescribed burns in the Great Meadow Marsh in Stratford, CT in an effort to remove dead fuels, protect rare plant life, and level ground for a new project coming to the marsh soon. Crews from Maine, Massachusetts, Virginia, and other states were present at the prescribed burn. The day's results were very positive, the burns made were very successful and the weather cooperated well. Crews are far ahead of schedule and looking at only 1 or 2 more days ahead needed to finish up the job. I'd like to extend my greatest thanks to the US Fish and Wildlife Service for allowing me this opportunity today to photograph this prescribed burn.
