On Monday, September 19, 2022, many assets from around the state of Connecticut and DEMHS Region 1 gathered at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport for the first time in 6 years for the Region 1 Response & Preparedness Field Day. Many different services and agencies from the local area and the state showcased and demonstrated the different equipment they have and what's available to be called upon by other local municipalities. Some notable services in attendance were: The CT State Police Bomb Squad, The Yale New Haven Health SHARP Team, Eagle Two, Sikorsky Aircraft Fire Department, and Eversource Energy made a presence, showing off their new mobile command center and a trailered demonstration prop that allows line workers to demonstrate to others what they do every day. Overall it was an incredibly informative event and I certainly learned a lot myself. I look forward to seeing more of these events myself in the future and encourage anyone involved in emergency services to attend events such as this one, as they are highly informative, interactive, and will leave you with a better knowledge of what's available to your services and community.
