Structure fire - 30 1st South St, Bar Harbor, ME - 7/29/2021
On Thursday, July 29, 2021, at around 2 pm, the Bar Harbor dispatch center received calls of a structure fire in the 1 block of 1st South St. On arrival of fire and PD, Ladder 4 announced they had smoke showing from the 3rd floor of a 3 story wood frame dwelling. Companies attempted to make an attack on the 3rd floor but were met by heavy fire and backed out for a transitional attack. Soon after Bar Harbor crews went interior again before being pulled out due to water supply issues. Operations fully resumed within minutes as the first mutual aid companies began to arrive. Companies from Bar Harbor, Mount Desert, Southwest Harbor, and Ellsworth operated for around an hour until the fire was knocked down. Companies that operated: Bar Harbor Engine 5, Ladder 4. Mount Desert Engine 4, Ladder 1, and Air 1. Southwest Harbor Ladder 112, and Ellsworth Engine 2 and Truck 3. There were no injuries to report. The Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
