On 11/15/2019, Amherst Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported MVA near the Merrimack line. First-due companies had one vehicle in the middle of the road with the driver trapped. Two sets of rescue tools were put into service at the scene. Due the severity of injury, a medical helicopter was requested to town. With DHART unable to fly, UMass Memorial Lifeflight was called from Worcester, Massachusetts. While companies continued working the scene, an additional engine was dispatched to Souhegan High School where a landing zone was established and the patient was transferred to air medical care.
