Warehouse Fire - 400 Roosevelt Ave, San Antonio, TX - 8/5/17
Early this morning, August 5 2017, at approx. 0215hrs, crews of the 6th battalion were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 400Blk of Rosevelt Ave in the cities “Riverside” area. Engine Co 7 checked on scene to find “a lot of fire coming from under an awning attached to a warehouse. We’ve got a plug right here; we’re going self supply and {dump our monitor} this will be a defensive fire” Shortly there after, Engine 7 advised that they had a faulty hydrant that had a busted steamer port and requested another supply line be laid. Engine Co. 3 reverse laid their LDH to Engine 13 who was pulling multiple handlines off their motor. Platform-Ladder 11 positioned adjacent to the Engines in anticipation of using their areal for defensive ops. EN07 was able to get a solid knock down on the biggest portion of the fire prompting Battalion 6 to not drop a second alarm. Crews were on scene for well over 2 hours overhauling and mopping up the fire. HazMat was called to the scene due to 4 chemical tanks being in close proximity and with one of the tanks taking some fire damage. Everything was deemed safe and HazMat cleared up quickly thereafter. Companies on the ticket were EN01, EN03, EN07, EN09, EN11, EN13, TK09, PL11, M13, SQ01, SP01, HM01, MAC26, MOF04, FSO, and BC06.
