2-11 Commercial Fire - Perrin Beitel, San Antonio, Texas - 12/31/18
Companies of the 4th, 5th, 7th, and 8th battalions worked a 2-11 convenience store fire in the 10400blk of Perrin Beitel in the “Uptown” section of the city. Engine Co. No. 40 and Ladder Co. No 40 check on scene of a single story Jack in the Box/Gas Station with smoke showing and initiated an offensive attack. Crews made entry into the structure and were quickly greeted with heavy smoke, high heat, and zero visibility. Battalion Chief 7-0 arrived to fire through the roof and sounded the evac tones prompting a PAR of all companies on scene and dropped a 2nd Alarm on the working fire. Crews worked for close to 3 hours, utilizing Platform 38, Ladder 40, and Platform 51’s aerial waterways, multi-verse’s and blitz-attacks. Command was able to place an out tap on the box at the two hour mark.
