2-11 Dwelling Fire, San Antonio, TX - 500 E. Grason 02/02/2019
Companies of the 6th and 7th battalions worked a stubborn 2-11 dwelling fire in the 500blk E. Carson St overnight. Engine Co. No. 5 arrived on scene to a two story, ballon framed dwelling with heavy fire on division 1. Engine Co. 5 pulled a preconnect and made an offensive attack while Engine Co. No 4 caught a plug on their way up the block. Platform-Ladder Co. No. 1 assumed first due truck duties securing utilities, performing a primary search and setting up for ventilation while Engine Co. 4 pulled a second attack line. Crews found heavy fire on both floors of the dwelling, and despite an aggressive and coordinated attack, Battalion Chief 6-0 dropped a second alarm and transitioned to a defensive posture due to the amount of fire showing through the roof and across division 2. Engine Co. No. 1 took to the alley on the Charlie side and pulled multiple lines for exposure protection. Crews attempted a second offensive attack however they were overwhelm by a rapid fire progression and forced out. Command announced a defensive posture utilizing Platform-Ladder 1’s main and multiple ground lines were put to use to bring the fire under control.
